PARTICIPATING

You can sign up at https://energy.innovation-challenge.sg/ using a valid email address. Then click ‘Participate’ in order to receive announcements and notifications about the Competition.

Once you have become a participant, announcements will be made through the Agorize admin platform chat on a regular basis to provide the latest updates about the Competition. Participants also have access to a dedicated chat with the Admins. Feel free to ask any question there.

The Agorize platform’s customer support can answer any questions pertaining to the competition.

You will receive an email confirmation upon successful registration for the Energy Open Innovation challenge. If you do not receive anything after registering, please reach out to quynh@agorize.com

To update your details, log in at https://energy.innovation-challenge.sg/, and go to your participant profile to edit or change your details. Please note that you will not be able to change your email address. If you need to change your email address, you need to delete your account and create a new once with the desired email address.

In this challenge, only one person is allowed per team to act as a representative for his/her respective Startup/SME.

ELIGIBILITY

This competition is open to all Startups and SMEs across the world.
  • Startups are companies that have been incorporated for less than 5 years
  • SMEs are companies with less than 200 employees or less than S$100 million annual turnover

For research teams, regardless of the country of residence, only one person is to register on behalf of the team members. Upon registration, the research team will need to be ready to incorporate a company in Singapore should they be shortlisted to work with the energy companies and offered the grant support.

Please note that this Challenge is not open to employees and representatives of the Joint Organisers.

You are free to submit as many solutions as there are problem statements. Check the complete list HERE

OPEN CALL

For the Application Phase, your startup/SME must submit a 10-slide PDF that addresses the following:

  • Problem/solution
  • Market and total addressable market (TAM)
  • Value proposition and positioning
  • Go-to-market strategy
  • Business/revenue model
  • Traction: KPI metrics and milestones
  • Forecast 2020/2021
  • Team presentation

A template is available to download on the participation space but you are not required to use it. It only serves as a guideline. If you don’t use the template, make sure that your PDF is 10-slides max and is written in English. Furthermore, please ensure that you’ve previewed your project, to ensure it is displayed correctly, prior to submitting it.

The deadline for the application is Friday, 6 November 2020 at 12:00 PM (GMT+8).

All submissions will assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Technical Depth
  • Team
  • Business/Growth Potential
  • Feasibility of Business Model
  • Innovation/Differentiation & Impact of Value proposition

For the 2nd application phase, the shortlisted companies will need to prepare for a 1-1 meeting with the energy companies of the problem statements they were selected in.

 
 

DEEPENING PHASE

The announcement for the shortlisted companies will be made via the platform chat on 18 Nov 2020, end of the day (19 Nov 2020 at the latest).

The deepening phase will consist of individual online interviews between the energy companies and the shortlisted companies.
During this interview, shortlisted companies will be required to introduce their company and solution in more detail.
The exact format of these interviews will be shared at a later stage.

FINAL PHASE

Following each interview, the energy companies will decide on which companies to progress to the final stage.
The announcement for the finalist companies will be made via the platform chat on 27 Nov 2020, end of the day.

The final phase will consist of 4 different pitching sessions, one per energy company, and will take place virtually during SFF x SWITCH (Singapore Fintech Festival x Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology) from 7 to 11 December 2020.

On w/c 27 Nov 2020, the Agorize team will organise a dry-run to best prepare finalist companies for the pitching day.
All finalist companies will also be paired with mentors from the energy companies on the platform for some additional guidance with regards to their solution.
